Habit Making: Why Habits?

Hey everyone! Hope y’all are having a good day and a good time of the year! Let’s start with the series “habit making”… Today is the first Blog that is purely going to be about what habits are and why habits really matter?

Habits play an essential role in our life, Our habits define us and what we are, because The habits of a person show what he works on and what he really is up to in his life… Habits are not only for showing what you want but also to help you achieve your goal by doing these side efforts towards your final goal.

The thing about habits that is really interesting is that they are based on a person’s choice more than his personality. We often think that personalities are the main basis of habits and our personality type is the reason for the hobbies we follow or defines the things we like. It’s quite the opposite! We like things based upon our point of view in our subconscious mind. Our mind analyses the thing based on our moral values and then rates it a certain level of importance.

It’s quite brilliant of a system that works in our mind and it also explains how habits are formed or certain habits are selected over others “naturally”!

But why should we have habits?

Well, It’s quite simple to understand… Let me explain, Habits are the building blocks of our personality as we established them before. Habits build a person and define who they are. The real reason why we need habits is that they are the beginning of our dream. Once you build a habit to do the thing you need to achieve the goal of your life, that’s how you soon turn it into your daily job or passion. Having habits is necessary to know what you are good at and what you are not so great at and it also helps you build the foundation of work!

Habits are life-changing. It’s the first step towards success. Let’s take some examples of some habits of successful people–

  1. Bill Gates – The founder Of Microsoft Claims that he has a habit of reading books atleast an hour before sleep.
  2. Steve Jobs- each morning he looked in the mirror and asked himself the same question: “If today was the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m doing today?”
  3. Kate Hudson: usually wakes up with the help of an ice bath.
  4. Julianne Hough: Right after waking up at 6:30 AM, she sits up in her bed and thinks of 5 things she’s grateful for.
  5.  Oprah Winfrey: Oprah starts each morning with 20 minutes of sitting meditation, not skipping holidays and weekends.

Each of The Habits in these Examples is completely different from each other and yet each of them has the same effect on the person’s life, self-satisfaction! That’s what we live for as humans, we work because we want to achieve a day in our life when we are satisfied with the person we become.

Habits can guide you to become a successful person but you must be willing to work first and dedicate your time to that activity! You can do It definitely if you put your mind to it, it just requires effort! I know you can do it and you know it yourself as well! Hope you have a great rest of your day and enjoy life in all its glory! Until Next Time…
